Artist Statement
DesignerGrillâ„¢ is a collaboration between design team kHyalâ„¢ and Karl Heine. It combines their love of art, design, technology, fashion, style, food, books, events, education, music, travel, adventure and more!

kHyalâ„¢ is an artist and designer. She is the creator of the Weather sKwirlâ„¢ and BlipWorldâ„¢. She also runs a small communication design firm called fiZz, and designs apparel under the name kHyal Kouture.

Karl is the principal of creativeplacement.com. He also has a company that creates custom journals for designers and artists called DesignerJournals.com — and a line of custom lighting, TerraLuminiere.com.

kHyalâ„¢ and Karl founded PUSHworkshops.com together in 2007 where they present educational and inspirational salons, workshops and events for creative professionals. In 2011, they are producing PUSH Design Camp Block Island. For more information, see PUSHDesignCamp.com.

Artist Bio
kHyalâ„¢

kHyal has been in the business of communication and technology since 1985. An AIGA award-winning designer and creative director with blue chip clients from Black&Decker to MTV, kHyal founded fiZz Agency in 2007 with a sharp focus on interactive services including expert project management, copywriting, public relations, events and education—with a strong emphasis on social media and digital marketing.

In her diverse career, kHyal has held the positions of Creative Director at Microtech International, an innovative manufacturer of Apple Computer peripherals, and Circle.com (now Euro RSCG) where she developed database-driven interactive campaigns for UPS, GAP and BMW. kHyal was a co-founder and VP of Marketing for SunStar Publishing, a consumer software publisher; and Blowtorch Studios, a digital creative and software development agency. She also served as Interim Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Stamford Hospital.

kHyal majored in Mass Communications at Emerson College in addition to studies at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; The Art Institute of Boston; Boston Film and Video Foundation; Loyola Law School and Kodak's Center for Creative Imaging.

kHyal has served on the MIT Enterprise Forum of New York City's Marketing Committee and co-chaired the Fundraising Committee of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Los Angeles. She was Communications Chair for the AIGA Metro-North Chapter from 2009–2010. kHyal has been a juror for the London Interactive Advertising Awards and Westchester Ad Club's Big W Awards. Her fine art and design have been exhibited in the American Visionary Art Museum, Housatonic Art Museum, the Outsider Art Fair, Intuit, the Cooper Union; and galleries from New York to London.

kHyal co-founded PUSH Workshops in 2007, talentEd in 2008 and DesignerGrill in 2009. She is the creator of BlipWorldâ„¢ and The Weather sKwirlâ„¢. kHyal also designs one-of-kind recycled apparel under the name kHyal Kouture.

KARL HEINE

Karl has been the principal of creativeplacement since it's formation in 1988. He has more than 25 years of experience in the industry and over 22 years in the creative recruitment field. Karl's expertise lies in national client exposure and concept development. An illustrator and designer by trade he has provided creative services throughout the New York metro area. His clients: local agencies and notables such as: Pepsi, Swiss Army Brands, Pacific Reef, 9 West, and Reed & Barton.

Heine lectures frequently at industry organizations, design schools and universities such as RISD | Rhode Island School of Design, SVA | School of Visual Arts, CCSU | Central Connecticut State University, UB | University of Bridgeport, UH | University of Hartford, UCONN | University of Connecticut, SHU | Sacret Heart University and PCA | Paier College of Art. Organizations: Noble Desktop/NYC, AMA | American Marketing Association and ICC | The Independent Creative Club. In addition, Karl has acted as an Adjunct Professor of Illustration at the University of Bridgeport.
