Artist Statement
My work consists mainly of commissioned portraits in oils and pastel, with additional time spent on figurative pieces.

I have always been keenly interested in the human form. I work in a traditional style because I love the way light falls on and reveals people, objects and landscapes. I am intrigued with the physical details of a face and the puzzle of a unique personality as it unfolds through observation. My portraits also consider composition, light, texture, color, shape and line. I approach painting a portrait with a reverence for the variety of human forms and personalities and a solid training in classical realist painting.
