Artist Statement
Sculptures/Installations
I enjoy taking modest industrial materials and transforming them into something new and unique. Over the years I have used materials such as scrap steel, inner tubes, aluminum printing plates and now plastic fencing. Through craft, manipulation and vision I alter these materials into something new and unexpected. But I do not want the sculptures to be just about the material, they also need to have an underlying concept that carries it beyond the superficial. Creating a perfect balance between idea and material that allows both to be active participants is the ultimate goal.

Drawings
The ink drawings on claybord are abstract studies that relate back to my sculptures. They can be studies of ideas for my three dimensional works or are stand alone works that are relate to the shapes, forms and ideas I am dealing with in my sculptures. I think about aerial views of landscapes, biological forms, water stains, or mold.
