Artist Statement
"Landscapes and Accidents"

When I take photographs I tend to look for things that look like art found in nature, and the interaction of nature with human-created forms. I like to see objects being reclaimed by the elements, covered in rust and vines; I like reflections and shadows of trees on city buildings. Some of the most beautiful sculptures are fallen trees and rocks in the woods. Dreamy.

I usually shoot medium format black and white film using toy and vintage cameras--it keeps me from taking myself and my gear too seriously. I am experimenting with color imagery on the fringes of digital technology. I have been a professional photographic printmaker for 12 years.

In addition to photography, I am interested in sculpture--hair work, nontraditional materials, found functional objects, sound.
