Artist Statement
Artist's Statement

The three major components of my photography are: the organization of space; I am fixated on texture, pattern, layers, line; and the essence is the idea of the passage of time and solitude. My love of art is tactile, reflexive, and intuitive. My more painterly work, in addition to exploring pattern and layering, alludes to the highly ornate embroidery of Hungary and the brilliant colors of the Dominican Republic. My ethnic identity and the fact that I grew up in urban areas in or around New York City is reflected in my work; industrial landscapes and serene fictitious ones in watercolor painting dominate my recent body of work. My artwork is a constant exploration of myself and my environment. It is my form of quiet communication with the world I live in; and sometimes that world is in my head.

Aniko Horvath is a public school Art Teacher in Stamford, CT.
