Artist Statement
I use personal history to explore memory, questioning how a moment can be charged with significance, and how fleeting things can extend forward in time or imagination. My work takes the form of audience-participatory exchange, performance, installation, and object making. I often work in series. Animals frequently appear in my work - as hybrids, or as references to wild or farm animals. These are reoccuring characters of significance from my childhood.

Selected Works

Untitled (rustbird) - 2008 - mixed media - 11.5" x 5.5", - $125.00

Untitled (rustbird) is from a series of forty mixed media works incorporating scraps of posters found in Venice, Italy. In 2005, I spent two weeks making work in there, being inspired by the colors, the chunks of poster papers and other things I found while walking in the floating city. My work often incorporates images of animals. In this series, the animals range from wild, domesticated, or farm animals, to fantastical animals. Red earth from where I grew up in North Carolina is often used as a pigment in my work and appears here.

Untitled (rat) - 2009 - mixed media - 11.5" x 5.5", - $125.00 [Fundraiser]
