Artist Statement
My work explores the realm of inventions and inventors, borrowing elements from engineering diagrams, floor plans, patents, maritime charts and other types of informational drawing. These images get combined into sprawling hybrid constructs, using formats derived from religious diagrams such as Mandalas and Tantric drawings. Lately I have become interested in the worlds of micro and macro biology, and of genetic engineering. I have begun to invoke plant and insect forms, structures and surfaces, as my mechanisms mutate into something hovering between the organic and the constructed.
