Artist Statement
As an artist and photographer my work reflects my surroundings in minute detail. My photographs evolve into photo collages of dense, reconstructed landscapes which speak of history, humanity, and our place in it. The collages then metamorphose into drawings of everyday objects creating an optical play of visual depth, challenging perspectives and fictionalized worlds.
The monochrome of black ink has replaced the color of the photo collages and the drawings have begun assuming a 3-D character of the actual objects, with pieces pasted on multiple layers to create tile like components of a low relief paper mosaic. Geometric forms and clean sharp lines, juxtaposed on a background of multi-layered geometric paper shapes, merge abstraction with realism to build an environment that comments upon consumerism and replenishment.
Viewers must engage closely with the work to observe details, then step back to understand how the work multiplies spatially to create a complete image.

Selected Works

Still Life 6 - 2008 - Ink Drawing - 11"X14" - $200.00 [Fundraiser]

My drawings comment upon the consumerism and compulsion to amass possessions found in average lifestyles. Most developed and developing societies have associated security and success with material possessions and my art is a non judgemental pictorial interpretation of human nature.
