Fake Babies

If Jesus Had Machine Guns

Silas Finch

Mark your calendars and start planning your outfits for October 2, when the Underground returns to Artspace!

The first Underground of the school year features performances by local heroes Fake Babies and If Jesus Had Machine Guns, with a live build by Silas Finch.

Fake Babies were recently named the best band in Connecticut as part of The Boston Phoenix's 50 Bands in 50 States, pitting them against the likes of Sleigh Bells and Wavves in an online race to the top.  Fake Babies have also shared the stage with Yeasayer, Indian Jewelry, Light Asylum (DJ), These Are Powers, Nite Jewel, Kingdom, Suckers and Dead Meadow. They provide "dirty soul for the alive and well in this little ol' world." Their debut full length album "We Started Blues" is forthcoming on Safety Meeting Records

If Jesus Had Machine Guns is a project of Jimi Patterson, a filmmaker and musician based in New Haven and New York.  If Jesus Had Machine Guns makes angsty synth-ridden bedroom recordings that evoke Ariel Pink or Anton Newcombe, with the help of an ever-evolving cast of supporting players and musicians.

New Haven based artist Silas Finch makes intricate, interactive sculptures from found and salvaged materials.  He'll be performing a live build in the gallery.

The Underground series brings alternative music, experimental time-based art, and cutting-edge performances to Artspace.  The event runs from 8 pm - 11 pm, and admission is $5. Curated by Madison Moore, with drinks by 116 Crown.  Dress to impress!
