Many people have routines and habits that help me get through the day, and I wish I did but I do not. The one routine I do have is my cup of green tea in the morning. It helps me wake up and bring my day in to focus and when I get up early enough, it will be accompanied with some writing. When I don't have time to write, the writing on the tea tag itself provides me with something to contemplate. Some people start their day reading religious text, others the horoscope – I read my tea tag. Just like a scripture or horoscope, the message can feel very timely and personal, so I save them and prop them up in different places to be reminded of their poignant messages. Recently I realized that I have little tea tags everywhere, but I stopped seeing them. To see them anew, I collected them into a pile and photographed them, and this series is the result.
