Artist Statement
My photographic subjects tend to be among the overlooked, the organic or inorganic items that surround us that we have become so good at filtering out. We are aware of their existence enough to avoid bumping into them (e.g., the evenly spaced trunks of trees arising from the sidewalks along a city street or the utility wires snaking paths up the side of a building). Having been habituated to there presence we have all but purged the nuances of light, color and pattern inherent in their form. I want viewers of this work to be snapped out of this apathy by the worth of the so call mundane.
