Artist Statement
A clown, a mime, a wannabe porn star, a lovesick gardener. These are the parts I play. Through video, I combine literature and performance to create narrative character studies. Colorful, lonely, silly, beautiful and terrible, these misfits always try to belong. My characters are often incarnations of me as a young gay boy in high school conflicted by the frustration and joys of sexuality and gender.
Through these portraits, I discovered there is a place for these characters. A place for me. I just need to create it. Make believe is no longer a way out, but rather a way in.
