SUPPORTING ARTSPACE

Artspace is a not-for-profit organization that brings communities together with emerging local and national artists. Our award winning youth programs pair New Haven high school students with art educators and artist mentors through long-term professional development programs (see programs). The Artspace exhibition program provides the opportunity for over one hundred aspiring artists to show in the main gallery site on Orange Street through solo and group exhibitions. Our program of offsite exhibitions utilize unusual indoor spaces and creative outdoor spaces to provide unique contexts for contemporary art. For example, our ongoing exhibition series called The Lot places new work in a vacant lot and bus stop area in downtown New Haven (see exhibitions). Every Thursday evening, Artspace brings life to the corner of Crown and Orange Street through a regular schedule of events and education programs (see programs).

If you enjoy our programs and believe in what we do, consider making a contribution.

To contribute online or by check, please visit our donation page.

Another opportunity to support Artspace is our Annual Benefit Auction, this year taking place on May 3, 2008. For tickets and more information, please visit our Spectacular! Benefit Auction website.

We thank our Government, Foundation and Corporate Supporters.

Artspace projects are made possible in part thanks to support from: The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, City of New Haven Office of Economic Development, the Community Economic Development Fund, the Connecticut Commission on the Arts and Culture, the Connecticut Humanities Council, the Connecticut Tourism Council, the Wm Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund, the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation, the Marshall B. Coyne Foundation, the Greater New Haven Community Foundation, the NewAlliance Foundation, TD Banknorth, JM Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Smart Family Foundation, the United Way, Yale University, Southern Connecticut State University, LEF Foundation as well as from local businesses and individual Friends.

We greatly value In-Kind Support!!!

As part of its mission, Artspace seeks to leverage existing local institutional resources for the benefit of artists and audiences. Artspace recognizes that corporate supporters and granting organizations increasingly have less cash to give, but can provide alternative forms of support that are equally valuable. In-kind support (not including volunteer time) covers nearly half of the organizational budget. For instance, the New Haven Advocate prints and distributes the Open Studios map and guide, saving the organization over $30,000 in printing and mailing costs. In-Kind partners include: Firehouse 12, Foster’s Restaurant, Town of Hamden, City of New Haven, Livable Cities Initiative, Ninth Square Partnership LP, Yale University, Viacom Outdoor, and others.
